It all started in 1974, when Arden Wendt then owner of Ellison Electric Supply wanted to offer a new service  to electrical contractors and builders. Galaxy Lighting, the retail lighting showroom, was a perfect extension to the wholesale electrical supply house.  Further expansion came in 1977 when a second retail location was opened in Oshkosh, that location proudly served the Oshkosh and  Fox Valley areas for over 25 years.  In April of 2003, an expansion to the Fond du Lac store allowed for the merging of both locations into one unified showroom.  A complete remodel of the showroom was done, increasing the display area as well as adding a lampshade and ceiling fan room.  Along with this expansion and consolidation came the showroom personnel from the Oshkosh store.  At a ribbon cutting ceremony on June 25, 2003, Steve Wetterau and Melanie Holdorf took over managerial duties of the showroom.  Bringing with them over 40 years of combined experience in the lighting industry, with Melanie also having a degree in Interior Design.

 

In 2020, we made the decision to close our retail display showroom Galaxy Lighting and continue to supply lighting as Ellison Electric Supply, Inc.  Melanie still works one on one with customers by appointment to help plan lighting options for their needs or projects.  She can be reached by phone/text at 920-921-8910 or by email at melanie.holdorf@ellisonelectric.com
